CS Executive Syllabus (2026): All 7 Papers & How to Study Them

Updated 28 July 2026 7 min read

The CS Executive level is the second stage of the Company Secretary course from ICSI, sitting between CSEET and CS Professional. This guide explains how the CS Executive syllabus is organised into modules and papers, the marks, and — more usefully — how to actually study each subject so the law and concepts stick.

The paper names below are the official ICSI New Syllabus 2022 papers. ICSI refreshes study material each exam cycle, so always check the material applicable to your attempt on the ICSI website — but the paper structure itself is current.

How the CS Executive syllabus is structured

Under the ICSI New Syllabus 2022, the CS Executive Programme has seven papers divided into two groups. You can attempt both groups together or one group at a time, depending on your preparation.

CS Executive papers (ICSI New Syllabus 2022)

The seven papers, across two groups, are:

GroupPaper
Group 1Jurisprudence, Interpretation and General Laws
Group 1Company Law and Practice
Group 1Setting Up of Business, Industrial and Labour Laws
Group 1Corporate Accounting and Financial Management
Group 2Capital Market and Securities Laws
Group 2Economic, Commercial and Intellectual Property Laws
Group 2Tax Laws & Practice

How to study the CS Executive syllabus (concept-first)

CS is heavy on law, and the common mistake is to memorise sections without understanding when they apply. The subjects that trip students up are almost always concept gaps — not a lack of reading. Practising application-style MCQs and seeing the exact concept behind each wrong answer turns rote law into usable understanding.

Marks and weightage

Each paper carries 100 marks. Knowing which topics repeat most across past papers lets you weight your revision — spend more time on high-frequency, high-mark concepts and confirm mastery with targeted practice.

Frequently asked questions

How many papers are there in CS Executive?

Seven papers, divided into two groups (four in Group 1 and three in Group 2), under the ICSI New Syllabus 2022.

Is CS Executive tougher than CSEET?

Yes — CS Executive is significantly deeper, with detailed company and tax law, compared with CSEET's entry-level test.

Can I attempt one module at a time?

Generally yes. Many students clear CS Executive module by module. Check ICSI's current attempt rules.

How do I remember so much law?

Application beats memorisation. Practising concept-tagged MCQs and reviewing the exact concept behind each mistake makes the law stick far better than re-reading.
